Is LASER therapy right for me?
Laser therapy stands out as the optimal choice for Venous Lake removal, provided there are no contraindicated medications or medical conditions, and pregnancy or breastfeeding is not a factor.
We can treat all ages and skin types. For minors under 18 years old, parental consent is necessary, and a parent or guardian should be present during both the consultation and the procedure.

Will removing a Venous Lake hurt?
The laser treatment for Venous Lake removal is remarkably swift, and the majority of individuals don’t feel a thing.
In certain instances, there might be a sensation akin to a brief, small electric shock—sharp and hot. Fortunately, this sensation typically dissipates within a split second.
What happens during my appointment?
During the appointment your consultation will be revisited and you’ll have the opportunity to pose any questions on your mind. A photograph of the Venous Lake will be captured, and your lip will be cleansed.
Once comfortably positioned on the treatment bed in a lying down posture, protective goggles will be fixed in place. The laser therapist will then place the tip of the handpiece over the Venous Lake on the skin and carry out the treatment.
Following the procedure, a cooling pad will be applied for a brief duration.
How long does it take?
Your appointment should last no longer than 15 minutes. The procedure itself is a matter of seconds.
What do I need to do after the treatment?
Keep the treated area cool. Avoid hot drinks, hot food, heat in general, alcohol, spicy foods and exercise for at least 12-24 hours.
Can I go to work/do things after the treatment?
Yes! Just make sure not to engage in activities that might raise your temperature or cardiovascular output.
What are the possible short term side effects whilst healing?
After the laser therapy, you might experience localised swelling, a firm lump, blister, scabbing, or dry skin in the treated area. These are typical responses, but if you have any concerns or questions about how your skin may react, don’t hesitate to ask.
What if I have any concerns after the treatment?
Your LASER therapist is available at any time during your healing process for any questions, concerns or issues that you may have.
Do I need to put anything on the treated area?
Not at all. Allow the treated area to heal naturally.
If the lesion is inside the lip, your saliva will speed up the healing process.
For lesions on the outer lip, make a habit of licking the area frequently.
Lesions on the skin can be dressed if necessary and left to heal on their own.
In case a scab forms, you can use topical applications to moisturise.
When will I see the result?
The duration for healing varies based on the location and size of the lesion, ranging from 7 to 28 days.
Do I need a follow-up appointment?
No, you’ll simply be requested to send a photo of the results.
Will I need another treatment?
In general, no. Just one session is typically sufficient for the Venous Lake to disappear. In extremely rare cases, a second session may be necessary if the lesion is abnormally large or if there’s a hard lump present. In such cases, a discounted rate will be applied for the second session.
What are the potential long lasting side effects?
In extremely rare cases, a small hard lump / miniscule scar / indentation.
How do I make an appointment?
Complete our online form and a free telephone consultation will be arranged to discuss your medical history, details of the laser therapy, any potential risks and the expected outcome.
A booking will be made for you at a clinic to suit you. You will be asked to pay a £25 booking deposit at the end of the call which is then deducted from the price on the day of your treatment.
Will I need another treatment?
In general, no. Just one session is typically sufficient for the Venous Lake to disappear.
In extremely rare cases, a second session may be necessary if the lesion is abnormally large. In such cases, a discounted rate will be applied for the second session.
If the blood vessel is weak, your Venous Lake may reappear over time (months/years).
